Season Launch a Raging Success!

Our first ever Season Launch was held on Saturday 1st May at the Forbes Services Club and was the brainchild of 1st grader Brad McMillan, who together with girlfriend Gabe Miller formed a Social Committee who was responsible for organising the event. The night saw over 140 people in attendance including current and past players, parents and extended family members and local sponsors. The purpose of the Launch was present the 2010 major sponsors with their framed guernseys (which were kindly donated by John Cutler & glass by Coles Hardware).
Ex-magpie Dave Schrader did a hilarious job of emcee and re-iterated Club President, Geoff Acheson's words about the importance of local sponsors, who, without their continued loyalty the Club would simply not survive. He also pointed out a very intersting point about our four of our five major sponsors - they have only been in business five or less years in Forbes.

Adam Hall & Ben Gunn (Co-coaches of Under 18's) were first to speak about their expectations of the very talented Juniors outfit they are responsible for this year. With no shortage of the talent the coaches are focused on promoting a winning attitude and the highest degree of discipline within their side. Aaron Goodsell was named as captain of Under 18's.
Captain/coach Curtis Wykamp, recognised the huge task he has ahead of him in recruiting and retaining players in reserve grade, however he demonstrates a level of enthusiasm and committment which says he will not rest until he has the side looking the way he wants it too!
Forbes Magpies 1st grade coach Baz Merritt spoke extensively about the goals in which he plans to build on in his second term as coach with the Club. He also revealed the new Club motto which is "To participate is good, but to compete is better". Baz went on to announce new Club Captain, Grant Acheson who spoke briefly about what an honour it was to be chosen by his peers for the job, but he said he was only one of many senior players who play a pivotal leadership role within the Club. Grant was also named as Captain of the First Grade side along with Darren Keane as Vice Captain.
The 1st grade side for 2010 is:
1: Matt Roylance
2: Leeross Tipu
3: Andrew Burton
4: Darren Keane
5: Kahu Ward
6: Stephen Morris
7: Adam Hall
8: Ben Robinson
9: Ben Gunn
10: Brad McMillan
11: Grant Acheson (Captain)
